Sitting Plane

Overview

After extensive research on office furniture, I decided to develop a Sitting Plane. This plane is designed based on versatility and portability. In response to the fundamental concepts, the object was designed to easily come apart and put back together for transportation sake, with the joints drawing precedents from Japanese wood joinery. The object was designed with various working positions in terms of versatility, thus resulting in a sitting plane that could be rotated in 4 different positions, allowing the user to either sit or stand while working. With the concepts mentioned earlier and research, I created the following object.

Joint Production

In order to better use generative design within more common manufacturing, I worked to dematerialize the generative structure to then create more specific joints that could be optimized using generative design and then 3D printed. This workflow would then be applied to all joints to be manufactured as a complete structure.
